City within the City / "Trnitá City Block"
Menšík, David ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The assignment of the work was the elaboration of two planned blocks of the new Brno southern center. In cooperation with the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, we adjusted them to the final form, from which twelve plots were created, for twelve graduates of the Nový-Palasčák studio. The land solved by me is located at the meeting of Opuštěná Street and the Svratka River. It thus forms an important urban corner, marking the newly emerging district. Due to its character, significance, size and multifunctional arrangement, I called this corner building „Opuštěná Palace“.
Promoting the concept of Flexicurity by the Open Method of Coordination from the perspective of the Multi-Level Governance Theory and the Sociological Institutionalism - case study of the Czech Republic
Hájek, David ; Šlosarčík, Ivo (advisor) ; Drulák, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis is a single-case study analyzing promotion of the concept of Flexicurity principle in the CR through the Open Method of Coordination (OMC). The concept of flexicurity began raising European integration actors' awareness since early 2000s. That was due to considerations how to strenghten competitiveness of the EU Member States' economies during growing expansion of more liberal markets such as China, and in the same time to maintain the European social model based on the concept of welfare state. In 2007, there was adopted EU's definition of Flexicurity. Flexicurity began to be promoted by the OMC. This thesis responds to the lack of studies analyzing the influence of the OMC in specific policy areas. Tha author analyzes literature, relevant laws as well as thier explanatory reports, National Reform Programmes, Czech government's policy statements, and interviews with representatives of tripartite actors who take part in social dialogue. The study explores how does the OMC work in the case of Flexicurity promotion. The aim is to find out which of the selected theories is more suitable for describing the process of Flexicurity promotion through the OMC. Selected theories are the theory of Multi-Level Governace (MLG) and the theory of Sociological Institutionalism (SI). The author...
The European Union and the adoption of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with Kosovo: the role of material interests and shared ideas
Procházka, Karel ; Karlas, Jan (advisor) ; Kučerová, Irah (referee)
The thesis seeks to examine the underlying motivations behind the conclusion of the Stability and Association Agreement between European Union and Kosovo on the 27th of October 2015. To determine the role of material interests and shared ideas in the process of concluding the SAA the thesis discusses and applies rationalism and constructivism, both grand theories of international relations. To test the theories and their respective hypotheses identifying the role of the relevant concepts, the research employs a single case study method, using a congruence analysis approach. In conclusion, through the rationalist lens within the perspective of the EU, the thesis confirms the existence of material interest in the conclusion of the SAA, representing security, power and economic gains. To complement the analysis via a constructivist lens within the perspective of Kosovo, the thesis solely implies a limited role of identity and norms while it points out that such constructivist concepts rather impeded the reaching of the SAA, veiling the actual role of material interest.
Komensky in the Light of the Life, the Epoch, Chiliasm, and Prophetic Hopes
Gmuzdková, Silvie ; Veverková, Kamila (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee)
Dissonance in the manifestations of Comenius geniality - the creation of the Pansophistic program, faith in the Scriptura sacra, the belief in the prophecy of contemporary visionaries - is only apparent. The light of God's presence at any moment and eschatological expectations brings him to the feeling of necessity to revise human knowledge and start the formation of "Emendative concept". The close connection between Comenius's life deal, rational systems and irrational promotion of contemporary prophecy could be clarified by chiliasm. Faith in the Scriptura sacra played a cardinal role in his gnoseological approach to the World. Interest in didactics, philosophy, mechanics, music and theology intertwined throughout all his life, as the life of the last bishop of the Unity of the Brethren. Comenius as an agitator for "All-Emendative concept", was interesting into interpretation and into improvement the World especially, as the these Komensky in the Light of the Life, the Epoch, Chiliasm, and Prophetic Hopes attempt to show.

Genealogy of Liberalism in America.
Váňa, Filip ; Klvaňa, Tomáš (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
In this work I examine the notion that various, both past and present conceptions of liberalism in America share a commitment to identical fundamental values, as well as utilize a characteristic method of political philosophy, that can both be traced to the rationalist thought of the period known as the Enlightenment. However, because of its ever-changing constitutive setting and different understandings of the term, the meaning of liberalism can be often dark and its usage confusing. Therefore I find it necessary to approach this work as an investigation of a complex (and extremely influential) phenomenon in time. I argue that throughout most of the history of the American republic, it has been exactly this forward-looking, revolutionary, rationalist tradition of liberalism, that has gradually come to dominate not just American politics, but also the social and even the private lives of the American people. Based on the examinations of the different "genealogical branches" of liberalism, I make the case that even though we often imagine the prominent conflict between the American "conservatives" and "liberals" as a struggle of two categorically opposed worldviews, underneath their political agendas we find the same set of goals. And while both sides try to achieve them by their own, often...
